Trump makes return to much-changed Mar-a-Lago

  • Trump returns Friday to his Palm Beach club for the first time since, badly damaged politically because of his handling of the virus and eager for the days when the patio hummed with activity, the ballroom was packed with paying parties and the prime rib buffet was steaming.
  • The Beach Club, tennis courts, gym and spa all reopened earlier this month, though dining in the main house -- where Trump has his private quarters -- isn't scheduled to restart until the start of November, according to a letter members received last month.
  • Moving from his patio meetings with the Brazilians into a packed ballroom for Kimberly Guilfoyle's birthday, Trump demonstrated little concern that guests at his club might be carrying the virus.
  • Several people who were at the club that weekend tested positive for coronavirus, including members of the Brazilian delegation and attendees at Guilfoyle's 50th birthday party.

CBS News calls out White House for breaking agreement and posting Trump's '60 Minutes' interview online

  • New York (CNN Business) - CBS News on Thursday called out the White House for violating an agreement it had with the network and posting President Trump's full "60 Minutes" interview online ahead of its Sunday air date.
  • Trump posted the 38-minute interview on Facebook after spending days threatening to do so and lashing out at correspondent Lesley Stahl, who conducted the interview at the White House Tuesday.
  • He later also posted Stahl's interview with Vice President Mike Pence.
  • Near the end of the video, a person off camera then told Trump that Vice President Pence would soon be ready for a joint interview with him that Stahl was slated to conduct after the solo interview finished.
  • A person familiar with the situation told CNN at the time that the image from the tweet showed Stahl with her producers immediately after Trump ended the interview.

PS5 will be missing some PS4 video-streaming apps at launch

  • It seems that many of the video-streaming apps on the PS4 won't be available on the PlayStation 5 at launch.
  • That's a marked contrast to the Xbox Series X, where media apps designed for the Xbox One work seamlessly on the new hardware.
  • The PS4 currently hosts versions of 21 different media-streaming apps.
  • Among the ones not even mentioned in today's PS5 blog post: CBS All Access, CBS News, HBO Max, Crackle, CrunchyRoll, Funimation, NBA, NFL, PlutoTV, Plex, VRV, and Vudu.
  • Further ReadingXbox Series X unleashed: Our unrestricted previewBy contrast, existing Xbox One media apps just work on the Xbox Series X.
  • In the long run, this probably won't be a huge difference between the two consoles.
  • Sony also used today's blog post to announce a specially designed Media Remote for the PS5, currently listed for $29.99 at Best Buy and Target.

Scott Baio is not happy with 'Happy Days' Democratic fundraiser

  • Ron Howard, Henry Winkler, Don Most, Anson Williams and Marion Ross are reportedly set to reunite to raise money for the Wisconsin Democratic Party.
  • The popular "Happy Days" series, which ran from 1974 to 1984, was set in Milwaukee and made Baio a teenage heartthrob for his role as Chachi Arcola.
  • Baio, who supports President Donald Trump, told Fox Business Wednesday that he is not a fan of the reunion.
  • Earlier, Baio had tweeted about a report that "Full House" star John Stamos had offered to sub for him during the reunion and Baio expounded on that during his interview.
  • Baio doubled down on not participating.
  • CNN has reached out to Stamos for comment.

Magic tables in Power BI

  • Now, as I’ve expanded my data model with two additional columns, I can perform a whole range of different calculations, such as the average number between the sign-up date and the first deposit date.
  • Moreover, I can use those columns as slicers in my report, and check, for example, only those customers who haven’t made a deposit between 3–6 days after they signed up!
  • The second level is the customers who signed up in the previous 2 days, but haven’t made a deposit yet.
  • And, finally, the last group are the customers who signed-up more than 2 days ago and still didn’t make a deposit.
  • Short disclaimer here: you can format your table however you like, you don’t need to follow all of my chosen styles.
  • It already looks better, and this color gradient for the number of days since the customer’s signed-up adds additional quality to our table.

FBI says it has 'nothing to add' to Ratcliffe's claim on Russian disinformation

  • Ratcliffe, during an appearance on Fox Business, said there was "no intelligence to support" claims that Russian disinformation were behind the articles in the New York Post that have been seized upon by President Donald Trump, Republican allies in Congress and conservative media in the closing weeks of the election.
  • CNN reported Friday that the FBI is investigating whether the recently published emails that purport to detail the business dealings of Joe Biden's son in Ukraine and China are connected to an ongoing Russian disinformation effort targeting the former vice president's campaign.
  • Still, the letter from the FBI is notable because the bureau and the Justice Department have sought to turn the page from "October surprise" letters to Congress from former FBI Director James Comey that came in the closing days before the 2016 election, where he revealed the bureau was investigating emails on Anthony Weiner's laptop that were potentially related to a probe of Hillary Clinton's use of a private server.

Google launches free Stadia game demos to entice people into cloud gaming

  • Google is launching a series of Stadia game demos that are truly free to play.
  • It’s a clear attempt from Google to entice more people over to its Stadia service, with an easy and free way to play game demos to see if the service is worth paying for.
  • It’s interesting to see Google embrace free demos: they were one of the key selling points for Gaikai — one of the original cloud gaming services — but Sony never tried them after buying up Gaikai and rolling its tech into the rival PlayStation Now. Google Stadia is run by Phil Harrison, who used to sit on Gaikai’s advisory board, and Stadia head of business development Jack Buser used to run Sony’s PlayStation Now. Stadia Pro owners now have 29 claimable games and the release of Cyberpunk 2077 on November 19th to look forward to playing on the cloud gaming service.

Google Stadia’s free demos could prove the value of game streaming

  • Last June, Google first revealed that it would be selling individual Stadia streaming games as full-priced à la carte purchases.
  • Starting today, Google will begin offering time-limited, completely free demos for upcoming Stadia games, which can be played instantly in a Web browser simply by clicking on a link.
  • 35The program begins today with Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle, a 64-player competitive Battle Royale take on the classic maze game that evokes instant comparisons to Tetris 99 and Super Mario Bros.
  • Google will extend the demo offer to two more games in the coming days: Sega's 4X strategy game Humankind gets a free streaming demo on October 21, while Ubisoft's Breath of the Wild-like adventure Immortals Fenyx Rising starts on October 22.
  • All three demos will only be available for seven days, accessible via links found on the Stadia storefront and the YouTube trailers of the games themselves.

Early voting starts this week in Florida and other key states
